Pediatric oncologist Gevorg Tamamyan nominated for WHO Director-General

Pediatric oncologist and physician Gevorg Tamamyan has been nominated by the Republic of Botswana for the position of Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). Tamamyan announced the nomination on social media, expressing his gratitude to Botswana President Duma Gideon Boko and the country’s government for their trust.

Tamamyan said that his vision is to have a stronger, faster, and more effective World Health Organization that works closely with Member States to ensure that the benefits of health progress are accessible to every person.

Over the coming months, he plans to meet and hold discussions with representatives of Member States from different regions of the world.
